Luxembourg and Dayan approached us to design an exhibition of early work by the italian sculptor Alberto Giacometti. Dating from the period 1925 to 1934, the work represents key experimental years in his career before he developed his own distinctive later style. It is the largest pre-war Giacometti exhibition ever shown in the UK.

Inspired by images of sculptures sitting on worktops in Giacometti’s studio, the idea of the show is to gather the sculptures together on a single table. We worked closely with the gallery to develop a suitable timber finish which both retained this notion - albeit abstracted - while also displaying the work in its best light.
